By Cayla Buettner

I’m Cayla. I’m a passion and pleasure coach, and the founder of To Feel Sparks. I help women design their lives and relationships with pleasure as their guide. I believe pleasure is the embodiment of happiness and wellness, and through intimate connection to one’s Self, you unblock the body-mind-soul connection, open your heart, and raise self worth to create the life that deep down, you desire.

That momentum isn’t slowing down. It’s speeding up. With schools like the Jay Shetty Certification School producing powerful coaches, that growth will continue to be exponential.

If you are reading this, I imagine you are feeling a bubble of desire — wondering if you could make it work; even though it may seem unreasonable; even though it may seem like a major career change for you.

All of your unique experiences you have gone through are the reason you will be successful as a coach.

Maybe it’s your deep empathy for the overwhelmed mom and dad, or it’s your 10 years of corporate experience that give you deep insight to the struggles of the day-in, day-out workload. Maybe it’s how deeply you have healed yourself, and your passion for living on the other side.

If you are willing to honor your own experience, do the work, and try-reflect-and-try-again, you will have the opportunity for innovation in the coaching industry and create lucrative opportunities for yourself.

From the outside, it was not reasonable for me to become a coach. It certainly wasn’t logical when my day job was working for an $8bn hedge fund. I definitely took some heat for making the investment.

But it didn’t seem reasonable to me to settle and just learn how to cope better. My own pleasure was in coaching and it was directing me to where I wanted to go, to who I wanted to be. So I went all in and am grateful for it daily.

I have friends from around the world now — some of whom I’ve met in person, and others who feel like sisters to me despite us only hanging out on Zoom. And I feel sparks every day when I get out of bed, excited to build my business, to coach amazing women, and witness their lives change in profound ways as they design pleasurable lives and relationships via our sessions together.

However, once you launch in the industry, you will quickly learn that people don’t pay for a generalist. They pay for a specialist. If there is something they desire, that is pulling them, they will invest in the person that specializes in helping them get what they want. And they’ll invest a lot, just like you would if you needed a specialist.

You can break down most peoples’ motivations to a generalized belief that this thing they are going to buy will make them feel better.

Yet, unlike a material commodity, a coach is actually able to peel back the layers to help someone be a person who feels good. To be someone who is not only working towards a dream or desire, but is enjoying the process with gratitude for where they are now.

Unlike a therapist that focuses on the past, a coach brings awareness to where you are now and guides you with tailored tools and deep questions to get you to where you want to go.

More and more people are continually discovering that coaching has this impact. One changed person impacts 5 people around them, who wonder if they too could benefit from coaching.

I started my wellness career in New York City as a romantic matchmaker and a  yoga teacher, and moonlit as a burlesque performer. But by the time I enrolled to be a certified life coach through the Jay Shetty Certification School, I was working at a boutique hedge fund. You could say my life had taken an unexpected left turn.

That’s when I started working with my own life coach. I needed someone who could remind me of who I once was and could be again — someone who lived unreasonably and boldly in pursuit of passion. It was in our sessions that the idea for To Feel Sparks emerged, and we recognized that a life coach certification would be my next step to serve.

My experience has revealed that this is an innovative career with unlimited possibility.

The skills you gain by obtaining a life coaching certification change lives. Every coach in our school can tell you that because we’ve seen it happen over and over again.

If you are willing to honor your own experience, do the work, try-reflect-and-try-again, you will have the opportunity to innovate in the coaching industry and create lucrative opportunities for yourself.

5. Be part of a supporting community

Lastly, whichever school you decide to attend, the worldwide community is one of a kind! The people that I have met at the Jay Shetty Certification School, and the things that I have only dreamed of, are all becoming a reality! People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. This is what I have learned to believe. There are not many places or people in life that I can be truly honest with. Personally, I know I can believe in myself and feel whole, thanks to other alumni and students. I realize my worth is so much more than I valued.

Through my journey I have made choices to rid myself of toxic people, including family members, but I learned and felt the strength and support of the community to encourage me to make these difficult life decisions. My life has changed forever thanks to coaching!

The Jay Shetty Certification School by far, is one of the best decisions I have made! My self-worth has no limits! New people who have come into my life took the place of those I left behind. I have been able to leave behind the limiting generational beliefs that I thought were “normal”! The dreams that I believed were only dreams are really coming true! Yes, I will say it again! I registered for the course with an open mind, ready for whatever came my way. Coaching has limitless possibilities and will be something you can use however you choose to! This ostrich has become an eagle, soaring higher and higher everyday.

4. You get to work flexible hours from anywhere

As a very busy person, the flexible hours are a definite attraction! Whether I am vacationing, far from home or wherever, I can coach my clients wherever I can find a quiet, private spot. This allows me to live a life that I always dreamed of whilst still helping others achieve their dreams.

3. You join the ripple effect

This ripple effect not only encourages personal growth, but the more that I grew as a person, the more I was able to help others and guide them in areas that I never knew were possible. In my primary current career as a dental assistant, I was not aware that I was coaching people through their treatment, especially when I was treating patients with braces. The patient set the goal of having straight teeth, for example. The guidance or steps that were taken and understood at home (brushing and flossing their teeth) so that they could achieve these goals, and the empowerment that patients felt once the braces came off is always great because they put in the work themselves, my job was to guide (coach) them and “hold their hand” along the way, if necessary!

2. Serving others is so rewarding

The second thing that was very important to me is that I can serve others, encouraging self-empowerment. As a parent this was important so that I could help my adult children have an easier transition into more independent careers and lives. This is the ultimate feel-good vitamin for me because the hidden bonus is that the more you help others, the more you will contribute to the ripple effect, that WILL come back to you! I had heard about this ripple effect but was unsure of its power...until it started to happen.
